    Occupation: Freelance Writer
    Interested In: Fiction, Children's, Other
About Me: Not much to say here, really. I love to write, and I've had a few sales. (My screen name is a reference to Dr. Who.)
What I Write: science fiction, young adult, children's, fantasy, space opera, humor, Christian fiction, mystery, etc.
Credits & Accomplishments: Ah, I'd like to stay anonymous, at least at first, if that's okay. Once you post titles or links, everyone can find you. :)
Hobbies Well, I'm here, aren't I? So I like writing and the internet. Sad. ;)
Music: oldies, 50s and 60s music, Christian music, classical music, some others. I don't listen to music voluminously.
Favorite Movies: Frequency, It's A Wonderful Life, Casablanca, Without A Clue, The Russians Are Coming, etc.
Favorite Television Shows: Doctor Who, Psych, Monk, Last of the Summer Wine, The Lost Room (actually that was a mini-series), etc. Can't think of more at the moment, but I know there's more.
Favorite Books & Authors: Wow. That's a big thing to ask a writer. There are so many to like I don't think I can pick properly. I'm fond of P.G. Wodehouse and Georgette Heyer. Ray Bradbury. Raymond Chandler. Dashiell Hammett. Suzanne Collins. Many more...
Heroes: Ray Bradbury was a writing hero to me from my teen years. I find his verve, inventiveness, and stick-to-itiveness inspiring.

    Well...

Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 02:30 AM EST [General]

Well.  I want to spent more time writing, so I just took a temporary leave of absence from a forum I love and where, unless I'm overstating the case, I'm accepted and actually appreciated.

I hope I'll actually get some work done, and it will be worth it.

In reading-related news, I just started "Poodle Springs," the Chandler novel that was finished by another guy.

I'm also working on an A. A. Fair novel.  Actually Erle Stanley Gardner in disguise.  But these mysteries are a lot better than his other novels, in my opinion.  The detective is a shrimpy guy -- not a brawn-detective, but he's extremely clever.  The other detective is a heavy, tough older lady named Bertha.  They're both great characters.

    on writing... sort of

Thursday, November 6, 2008, 01:17 AM EST [General]

I am writing a science fiction mystery novel right now.  I hope to have the best of my science fiction and the best of detective fiction.

Of course, one always hopes for the best from one's novel.  And feels sad if one falls short.

Wait.  Start over.   Those 'ones' are getting too many.

Let's see.  What do I actually want to say here?

I wish I could finish my book faster.  Just to be sure I do finish it.  I have a lot of things lined up to write, and finish, and edit.  I don't want to let it fall behind.

But if I rush it... well, that might spoil the quality.

I just want to write the best book I can, and stay faithful to it.  I don't want to doubt it and do the angst-filled writer bit.  I want confidence in my work, darn it!

This concludes the disjoined musings of my first blog entry here.

Thanks for commenting on my middle grade novel forum. Your novel sounds interesting. Things have been hectic with T-day and the birth of our first grandson, so I have been slow responding. If you are interested, I would be up to reading the first chapter (s) of your science fiction middle grade.

Thanks for visiting my blog & leaving a comment. It's always nice getting to know new friends.

I'm very glad that you learned a bit about cats as service animals. You're one of the few folks who responded so far, who knew there were service animals other than dogs.

Yes, I've made a couple more blog categories since that posting. Did you respond to either of the polls on the blogs? Just wondering.

What do you think of the Community part of the WritersMarket.com site so far? Have you been a member for very long?

Visit anytime. I try to post as often as I can. However, in mid-December I'll be going into surgery, so there will be some lag time between posts then.

Will you be posting any blogs on your site? I'm interested to read what's in your writer's heart. Keep finding & making reasons to smile, friend.
