to be or not to be

    Well, that was embarassing..........

Note to self.  Check entry status on blog posts before hitting button.  Then perhaps you will not come off as hugely inept as you appear.  Many thanks to I.R. Griffith for pointing out the obvious to yet another hopeful user.

What started as an occassional catharsis has morphed into a probing question.  Can I write?  Do I have what it takes to collect greenback dollars in exchange for products virtually anyone can produce?  What makes me or my work different from any other aspiring writer?

Like some others, I am here at the prodding of those who surround and care about me.  They nuture an idea that I have talent in putting pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard in this case, and telling a story.  They are also highly biased.  They have to tell me I can write and that they enjoy the products of my random acts of scribbling.  It's in the relationship rulebook, after all.

My sister-in-law is a successful television comedy writer.  She says I have potential.  I am sure I could turn the screws on her and weasel my way into publication.  But that is not my style.  I prefer to explore, attempt, fail, attempt again and ultimately succeed on my own terms.

So here I am.  Here I am with no clue, no direction, really.  But I have a story to tell and the will to see it to completion.

I invite one and all to tag along.

Wish me luck.  For I wish the same to you.

More later from your pal, Andy.
