Hello all! Allow me to introduce myself and my writing issues.

I fell into writing for a daily newspaper 20 years ago. After 11 years, I began working as a reporter with a real salary and benefits, but quit two years later due to a personnel issue. I was devastated. I loved the job.

I took a huge pay cut to work for the competition - as a reporter/editor for a weekly paper. Except for the pay, it was an easy transition.

Then my husband retired and we moved 600 miles away to a totally new and wonderful environment. I enjoyed the freedom to explore our new surroundings, but I missed writing. So six months later when I was asked to continue writing for the same paper I just left, I jumped at the chance. That was three years ago. I've done some freelancing for the daily paper, but at $1 per inch, it really isn't worth it unless a story simply falls into my lap.

I think it is now time to expand my horizons, earn some money, and leave my comfort zone.I've thought that writing for magazines would suit me. And, I have written the first chapter of a non-fiction book.

It has been so long that I've had to actually look for work, that I'm a bit intimidated. And, I'm not as young as I used to be. I think I need a little encouragement to break old habits. I hope to find it here.
