Yes, I have been missing from this community for the past two, almost three weeks, because I did something so totally wacky that it boggles my brain.
I left my fulltime job on the 15th of October and packed up my RV and drove to Vancouver island so that I could find some quiet and solitute and purposely have no interuptions while I worked on my novel - one that I started six years ago. So, here I am, sitting at my laptop, listening to the rain on the roof of my trailer and my old fashioned hurricane lamp is beside me on the table; the ambience in the room at this moment is perfect in every way.
What's the craziest thing that you have ever done so that you can have some peace and quiet to work?

Good question. I live in a lively and well occupied house, and I do love my family, but there are times when you just have to have a moment, aren't there? And the craziest thing I ever did to steal some of that time was this: it was nearing Christmas, and so I went into my room and closed the door behind me, and locked it. And when people came to knock, or to ask to see me for a second, or tried for any reason to come in, I would reply with "Oh, sorry! Can't let you in just now! Christmas business is afoot."
Melonie McLaurinI said this as though I were busy wrapping presents, or busy with some other noble activity. I was not really thus engaged. I just wanted to be alone, to sort out my thoughts and maybe write a little.
