I'm doing away with Chapters!!!

Monday, May 11, 2009, 08:29 PM PST [General]

...I just want to write!  Unfortunately, I don't write in nice organized packages that work out to be chapters.  In my case, it's more like piecing together a crazy quilt.  Looks like chapters will be the last thing I do...

    It's been a while...

Friday, May 8, 2009, 02:49 PM PST [General]

My last post said I was on to Chapter 2.  Well, then February happened, then March, then April...   Suddenly it's May!  I'm finally getting back to my book.  It's rattling around in my head too much and I need to get it out.

    Who Finishes Outlines?

Monday, February 9, 2009, 10:30 PM PST [Composition]

It's my first one - and I didn't.  I kept going until the nagging feeling to 'just write, already!' got to me.

So while my outline is left unfinished, I've completed the first rough draft of the prologue and first chapter.

That was mid-January.  Then, life happened.  Well, on to chapter 2!  :)

    for the reader

Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 08:47 PM PST [Impressions]

Writing 'for the reader'.  How many times have you heard that?  I must confess to being a bit dim.  :)  It didn't sink in for me until I visualized 'the reader' as someone I know.

I see 'the reader' as one of my sisters or cousins or friends (new and old) who love romantic stories and can't get enough of a good novel that they can really sink their teeth into.  A novel that never gets old - no matter how many times they read it.

So now that I've personalized 'the reader', I know exactly who I'd like mine to be and I am writing this book for them.  First though, I have to get past the chapter outlines.  Outlining just seems to go on, and on, and...again.  :)

    ...and more Chapterizing

Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 07:53 PM PST [Composition]

Please don't ask me how many styles, formats and suggestions of chapter outlines I've studied.  I've lost count - but I'm glad I did it because I've found my own style.  I'm settling in now for the long haul.  I've got my wine, a little fire going, my laptop, and I'm in the zone.

Happy New Year everybody!  I wish for all of us achievement of our goals and the realization of our dreams.
