    Blogging??

Monday, June 1, 2009, 05:02 PM PST [General]

Blogging has never been 'my thing', mainly because when I try I find myself thinking, "Hmmm, you should be writing."

I'm still sending out queries for my screenplay, drama/comedy/romance with a splash of suspense.  I also recently submitted it in a screenwriting contest, The Big Break - Final Draft.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to join an established critique group with accomplished writers who's helping me tremendously with my first fiction novel.  I'm also finding you need really thick skin to write.  Rejections and critique are just part of the game.  But keep your fingers crossed for me!  They've brought to my attention many things I need to watch out for when I write, so I'm grateful to be with them.

Throughout the years I've written several children's stories and recently began to submit them, as well.

And I love writing humorous personal essays.  I would love to write them back in my hometown - Savannah, GA - watching the Spanish moss sway from hundred year-old oak trees while smelling the sweet gardenias growing about and listening to the bees dance around the pink azaleas, but I'm here on the other side of the country in the Los Angeles area.

As long as I'm writing I guess it doesn't matter where I sit.

So even though I don't blog much, I am writing :)  now if I can just get them published!

    Best to all,

    Debbie Caldwell

I consider blogging to be my writing practice. And who's to say I can't put in a little fiction now and then?
