I'm working on a new urban fantasy novel right now, and am trying out a different voice for part of the story. I normally don't like to change it up mid-story, but I think it fits well here. It would be great to hear what you all think. To set up the

    Writing Those "Creepy" Scenes

    Last Post By: Wyatt

Recently I wrote two stories that have creepy scences in them. In the first scene there needed an element of violence. In the second, the scene needed subtlety. One key element is to remember what the purpose of the scene is. If the creepy scene isn'

No. By problematic, I meant that it might be technically difficult to maintain that sort of POV. It also has a tendency to distance the reader from the action. Even though they are being addressed, directly, they have no frame of reference (where

Thanks for the response. I completely understand the need for time, and I also understand the idea of "no first drafts." I appreciate the effort that goes in to critiquing. I look forward to helping others as this community grows!

Chapter Two for Review: What do these characters say to you?

    Last Post By: Cameron Roberson

I've gotten to about the half-way point in the chapter. I'll read more after lunch. But I would say that the first thought that comes to mind when I think of Damion is wistful. I haven't seen the first chapter so the referenses are lost on me but

    Hello Everyone,

It's official that John has passed on the torch of this group. I will do my best to stay true to his vision for this group and keep it alive.

I'm sure that I speak for everyone in wishing you well John. I hope that you'll return to Writer's Market soon. Until then good luck in everything you do.

    Keep writing and be well.

New Moderator for Fantasy Writer's Group

In September, my subscription to Writer's Market will expire and I don't think that I will be renewing it.  Is there anyone that would like to be the new moderator of the Fantasy Writer's Group?  I hate to see the group shut down or fade away.  We've steadily increased our membership over the previous year and I think we've done a good job posting work and doing reviews.

The responsibilities are light.  Basically all you need to do is okay new member content.

If someone is interested, please let me know.
