I've been writing for businesses for more than two decades, and it's provided a great living that also allowed me to be home with my children. Now, the kids are off to college and I'm ready to get back to one of my first loves: poetry and fiction. The two worlds of business and creative writing collide in many ways, and I'm interested in knowing how other people meet this challenge. For those of us who want to meld the two sometimes schizophrenic worlds, I started a WritersMarket.com group: Industrial Quill. See the group page to join and participate in group forums. So, I ask again: What is the biggest challenge for you as a business writer who also writes creatively?

I'm going backwards. I'm a fiction writer moving into business writing. I have done some in the past, but it has never been my primary focus. The biggest challenge so far? Leaving imaginary worlds for the real one. I can imagine going the other way is just as tricky. |
