So if you want to write screenplays as well a literary works you have to have an script agent as well as an literary agent? Would it be possible to get someone to do both? And will anybody ever respond to this thread? |

I suppose it's possible you may find an agent who handles both, but likely you'll need separate agents. In fact, you'll probably want separate agents. Why? Specialization. Just as writing a screenplay is different in many ways from writing a purely prose work, I would imagine that they need to be pitched by an agent somewhat differently as well. Not only that, but the agent would be dealing with an entirely different network of contacts for each type of work. Personally, I'd prefer to have two agents who each have one extensive contact network than one agent with two mediocre or weak networks. Also, just so you know, don't get too stressed out if it takes folks a few days to respond to posts here in the forums. Watch the activity for a few days and you'll see that there's still a low volume of posting overall. Best of luck to you! |

Yeah it does make a lot of sense to have both. I was hoping to have just one, but you make a good point. By getting two people that specialize in their particular field I would probably be more successful. I know that the there is a listing of agents on site, but is that just literary agents, or is their a section for script agents as well? |

If you pull up "Literary Agents" on the site you can then choose "Stage Plays," "TV Scripts," or "Movie Scripts" from the "Represents" menu. Log on a play with it a bit, you'll be glad you did. |

Thanks again, I have to admit that I am still learning the site. So far it seems to be a pretty valuable tool. Now if I can just figure out the right questions to ask to set me on the right path. |
