After toying with the idea of starting my own "small" publishing company in the last few months I have pulled the trigger. It started as something that I was going to use mainly for my projects but now I am in the process of reading two pieces that I may publish. There are many different paths out there to publish your work, just know that which ever route you decide to take do your homework! There are many people out there that do not care about anything about you or what you write but to only get you a copy in your hand. Research your options.
The site will be up soon and if anyone has any questions please feel free to shoot me an email.
I just received my LCCN number from the Library of Congress for my short novel Beneath Creek Waters published by Blue Shore Publishing. I have all of the final editing completed the isbn, the registering the cover completed and copyrighted and now its headed to typeset and print.
Its looking like a May 20th release as scheduled.
I just wanted to thank everyone on writers market that has sent messages with input and help. It has been a long road and am ready for my next two to be in the pipe. I started Blue Shore Publishing for all of my future novels and maybe a few that others may want to publish instead of the"self publish" route. I have learned many things and I am still in the process of learning this crazy business.
Just a quick piece from my new novel "The Hobbyist"
The sun had almost set when Kenley turned back and watched the crystal clear swell start to rise up from behind him. The water was abnormally clear for that part of Florida on that brisk morning. The sun was glimmering off of the ripples as he shook the water from his hair. Kenly turned his board around and started paddling just knowing that this was the wave that he had been waiting for all afternoon. He paddled his arms deep into the warm waters as the wave started to rise underneath him. He grabbed the rails of his board and threw himself up onto his 6’2” piece of foam and glass. He dug in his heels back and grabbed the front rail with his right hand and lowered his head. He was gliding along the almost transparent waters as the tube began to break over his head. Kenley tucked down a bit harder and gained speed. He was now in a spot that only a few can describe as liquid bliss. His mind was totally cleared and all that he could do was soak in the sounds and embrace the hug that the ocean was giving him. It seemed to go on forever.
Your sitting on the bus, on a plane, in your car. Maybe at the top of a building or in a cave. Who knows where, but then boom... An idea pops into your brain and its so good you don't want to loose it. What do you do? Do you store it in your head and try not to forget it. Whip out a carry carry tablet that you have? Store it in your phone? Call someone and tell them?
Technology is a wonderful thing. I have a spot in my Blackberry just for these occasions when I am on the go. I used to carry a small tablet with me but its just faster now to type it and send it to my email.
How does everyone keep there ideas placed before putting them down in to your stories or writing pieces if your away from your lifeline (computer)?
