About Me:
Having been gifted with ADHD (yes, I consider it a gift), I've always had the ability to process a million thoughts at once. In school, my teacher could mention one word that would release a swarm of fantasies racing throughout my head. (This was before I discovered Adderall XR.) Perhaps, this is what inspired me to become a writer. When I'm not writing, I'm a customer service analyst for a local phone, cable, and internet provider. (Basically, I dispatch trouble calls and do the mundane gofer work that nobody else wants to do.) It's a paycheck, anyway. In 2006, I graduated **** Laude from Troy University where I majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Sociology--two fields that are quite difficult to get your foot in the door unless you don't mind being a cop first. I married a cop; I've seen what they go through. It's not for me.
What I Write:
My imagination knows no boundaries. I love writing fiction because I find it both challenging and liberating at the same time. I love being able to create fantasy worlds with their own rules while keeping things as believable as possible so the reader feels emotionally connected to the characters no matter how outrageous or fantastic the circumstances of the plot are.
Credits & Accomplishments:
My senior year in high school, my poem, "Patriot Heart" was published in the National Poetry Journal. The following year, I participated in the Miss National Peanut Festival Pageant (yeah, I know.) where I placed in the top five out of fifty-plus contestants in the written communication category. Basically, what they did was give us one word and one hour to write an essay about that word. The word was "Dream." I couldn't have been more fortunate! Those were the only times I've ever submitted my work to be judged or published. Hopefully, I'll be able to add to this section before too long.
