Fresh out of college...with a degree in Communications. I sure wished it was English but all my family and friends convinced me to pursue something else saying, "What kind of job can you get with an English degree." Thinking to myself, duh, I'm going to be a writer! I did not see English as a bad word, as they had and secretly knew someday my dream would come true.
A few years later I wrote my first short story. Submitted it and anxiously awaited the acceptance letter I just knew I was going to get. Months go by and on a normal spring day I received it...the thin envelope that could contain only one thing...rejection. I vowed this would not keep me down and I would trudge on.
Several more years go by...not writing a thing. Then I go back and reread the first submitted story. I wonder...did I actually think this was good and laugh to myself. With age comes knowledge and perseverance...right? Well I'm at it again...pursuing that dream I once had as a little girl. This time I am armed with a computer, a thesaurus, writing books, the internet, support, inspiration and of course knowledge and perseverance.
Wish me luck!
