I know as a writer, you are looking forward to the day when your words find their way into print. Don't we all? But what happens then? I guess what I'm asking is if you've thought about the impact your words will make.
As a teacher who works with at-risk kids, I often think about impact. I firmly believe that even one person can make a difference. It can be a positive difference or it can be a negative one, but I've learned never to assume a human being can go through life without changing those around him or her.
As such, the words we write do take on a life of their own. As writers we form a legacy, sometimes without thought or plan. While dreaming about your future blockbuster, perhaps one of the things you might consider is what others can take away from your work. You might as well because once it's out there, it's fair game for people to make of it what they will. I've been told more than once that I need therapy for the fiction I create, that I'm working through personal issues. Strangely they are fictional issues, but that isn't exactly as interesting, now is it?
I do believe in the words above, and as much as I believe there is a place in this world for my words, I want that place to be somewhere I can be proud of, hence the title of this blog. In case you don't recognize it, it's a direct quote from someone I believe had many valuable things to say, Ghandi.

Good post. One act of kindness, one gift shared does change lives.
