    No Break in the Break

Monday, October 19, 2009, 08:46 PM CST [General]

It's strange but true that I actually get a whole lot more writing done when I'm not on break.  I think it has to do with having kids home.  Or rather having very bored kids home.  No, I don't want to be the next entertainment sensation for my seven-year-old.  I really  love her. Honest.  But trying to keep her from bouncing like tigger is an act of sheer determination sometimes.  I guess that's when it's good that I'm so stubborn.  It means I win.  I typically don't get into battles with kids, but someone has to be the adult here.

So, suffice to say, I'm glad the work week is starting over.  Maybe I'll actually get some writing done....

    Freado.com

Yep, here is another interesting site I ran across, and if you are a self-published author, this is a place you definitely want to visit.  I had quite a bit of fun once I realized what the book widget did, and I can tell you that it's a wonderful way to promote your books.  Yeah, I know that I say that about a lot of sites, but I promise you that once you see what this does and realize that it's FREE, you will definitely be visiting that site again.

When Diana Newport nearly drowns, she finds herself on the razor's edge between life and death, where she is reunited with her dead sister. When she comes back from the brink, however, into the land of the living, she knows at at once something is wrong.  Someone else has returned as well, a disgruntled Vietnam vet ferrying with him the soul of a serial killer executed for his crimes against humanity. Now, in a desperate race against time that will try her faith to the utmost, Diana must stop him before he exacts his revenge.

Genre:  Horror, Fantasy, Inspirational (Yeah, I know. What a combo.  Don't blame me.  Blame Diana.  It really is her fault.)

The print edition should be ready before the end of the month.

So How Many Balls Are You Juggling?

Wednesday, October 14, 2009, 10:12 AM CST [General]

Because I've been writing so long, I'm usually in the middle of several projects at once.  Currently I've got a horror/fantasy/inspirational novel that I'm working on the final edits to get out on the kindle.  Yeah, weird combo, I know.    I'm also in the middle of a sci fi novel that just became bigger than one book.  I so didn't plan that.  My husband just started thinking of the all the possible directions I could go.  Like I needed more books to write.  I'm also about to be working on putting together a poetry book for submission to a small publisher.  Once I get that done, it will be time to take the poems I didn't put in the book and start sending them out again which is always time consuming but definitely worth the publication credits.  I've also got a script with Erica that needs attention and some new projects we are looking into.

So how about you?  How many projects are floating around you, waiting for you to finish them?  Or am I the only one who loves chaos?

    Busy Weekend Coming Up

Friday, October 9, 2009, 12:03 PM CST [General]

I'm heading into the weekend with grading from my regular job, a poetry reading Saturday night, and three manuscripts that need final edits not to mention reading, reading, reading on Authonomy.com (thanks, Tim!).  Still, life is good.  I'm just hoping once I get all these other projects completed, I can get back to my sci fi manuscript and work out some kinks thatare nagging at me.  I typically don't get writer's block.  It's usually plot problems that have to be worked through.  Unfortunately I need time to work through them....

Still, since I'm writing about a serial killer, I've got season 3 of Dexter.  It should be interesting.
