Someone very close to me is going to be Mary Shelley. She was Victorian, so there are no Jane-Austen-Empire-waistlines to contend with. She's Frankenstein's creator, so props can simply be ubiquitous Frankenstein Halloween decorations. (A face only a mother would love.)

Well that is a hard one, it depends on if you are going for sexy, scary, or just in the spirit of Halloween. There are so many images out there for Halloween that it has become cliche, so you want to be different, especially talking about something literary, so my thought is why not be one of the three Ws from the story "A Wrinkle in Time", the three old girls in the book seem almost witch like and they have some great costumes,I prefer Mrs.Whatsit, so there it is take it or leave, have fun, and Happy Halloween.

I've always wanted to go as Agatha Christie, but could never figure out how to do it...a pen in one hand and a gardening trowel in the other? Where would I put the weapon? :)

Hi Melissa! Two author ideas come to mind: Mark Twain or Jackie Collins. The Twain costume would require you to cross-dress as a guy and sip your party drinks through a bushy mustache. On the other hand, if you have a perfectly coordinated designer suit, pearls, and high heels (and maybe a purse dog), the Jackie costume might be an option. Depends on whether you want to go frumpy or if you want to glam up for the evening. Whatever you decide, have fun!

There's also Danielle Steele - lots of make up, glam outfits, over the top jewels. Just requires a long straight wig.
