    Short Shorts

Thursday, March 12, 2009, 01:16 PM EST [General]

So, I wrote a short-short story, (one of those ones that just comes all in a flash, when you are TRYING TO SLEEP), and my husband said, "Hey! This is really good!," so I want to enter it in a contest, but I don't see any free to enter short short contests currently running, and I have no money, not even five dollars, budgeted for my writing costs because hubby lost a LOT of hours recently (but did not lose his job, as half his co-workers did, thank the Lord).

I tend to speak in run-on sentences when I'm frustrated.

    One A.M.

I wonder if there's anyone else out there who is near the end of a book and has hit the wall. Why is it that the first eighty percent or so of the book flies by, and when you get near the end the writing just stops? I know the end of the story, so it isn't like I'm wondering WHAT to write, I've just. stopped. writing.

Does anyone else have this strange "can't finish the book" disease? I think it has something to do with the fact that, once the manuscript is complete, the book will have to be submitted. Someone will SEE it.  What kind of a masochist am I if I spend months on a book that I can't wait to see published, then get to the end and won't finish it for fear of it BEING SEEN BY SOMEONE?

    Help.
