    Distractions

Friday, January 16, 2009, 05:39 PM EST [General]

    I wrote today!

A little bit. I found an hour of no distractions. It was wonderful.

I love the tap-tap-tapping of the keyboard, but only when I do it. I can't stand to hear it when my daughters are typing.  It's distracting.  My daughter is doing it now.  So, the story I'm writing has to wait until later. Can't concentrate. Other people chewing, I can't take that either. It hurts. Makes me just want to cover my ears and run screaming from the room.

Am I weird? I don't think so. This chewing annoyance runs in the family.  At least between my sisters, my daughters and I. It doesn't seem to bother my husband, my mom, or my dad. All of which think it's funny to chew louder if any of us ask them to close their mouths, or try to chew quieter, or even turn on the T.V. so we won't have to hear it. My mom's even made fun of us for it. She doesn't get how it can hurt so much. Nails on chalkboard...means nothing to us. Loud chewing, grinding the teeth, even tapping the fork on a plate when there is no other sounds...painful.

But the important fact of the day is I finally had time to myself to write! Yay!

    The Lost One

That's how many words I need to come up with today to get back on track for NaNoWriMo. I lost the first 2 days from coming down with a heavy cold and cough in the middle of the week. Yesterday, my husband decided we needed time together (of all times!). With going to vote and company coming over, do you think I can do it?

I bet I can come close.

Either way, I'm writing. That's good. I wish I saved one story in particular from the flood of 2006. I had one copy printed out and one on a floppy disk. Neither made it. I remember some of it, but not all. Not even close. It was supposed to be a romance that started going in a whole other direction as I kept going. It was almost finished too. The longest I've ever written.

I can do it again. I know it won't be the same. Will be better.

    So, here goes...

Hey Trace. Just wondering how you're doing on NaMoWrMo.

Sorry to hear about your lost story, too. That was a terrible flood from what I can remember. I'm sure you have a lot more stories in you, though, so keep on writing and good luck. You can do it.
