    Publishing Update

Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 11:56 AM CST [General]

I have some good news and bad news.  The bad news is that the 73,000 word novel that had gotten past the acquisitions editor was shot down by a hire up.  They decided not to publish it.  I had a strong feeling that they were going to publish it, but I was wrong.

Now the good news.  I signed a publishing contract with Black Rose Writing for my other novel.  It is a 55,000 young adult novel that will come out very soon.

    the waiting game

Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 04:38 PM CST [General]

I have written a young adult christian fantasy. It is 73,000 words. I started querying a little over two months ago. While it is out there, I started writing a middle grade science fiction. I am almost finished with that one too. I am at 49,000 words and it should end in 5-10,000 more words. Basically I should finish in the next two-four weeks--God willing.  I have made it passed the query with one publisher for the first novel.  {I will keep you informed!}.   My question is what should I do while I wait? I have thought about doing a fantasy blovel {blog novel} to put my name out there. It's already in my head. I think it might be fun and challenging. I understand that whatever I blovel may never get published in the traditional way. Is this a good idea? If so, any suggestion on how I can use it to my advantage?  I can't stand just waiting.  The publisher's letter says that it responds to manuscripts in 180 days.  That is like watching water boil....
