About Me: I am a U.S. Army war veteran who fell in love with a fellow soldier after returning from a one year tour in Afghanistan. Shortly after we met, I completed my commitment to the military as a soldier and took on a new task as a proud Army wife. Accompanying my new commitment to the military was my desire to pursue my dreams more diligently. Writing for me has progressed from a sporadic endeavor into my focus for a future career. Until that dream becomes a reality I work for the military in one aspect or another to help pay the bills. If I'm not writing I'm watching a movie, sitting at my computer, or loving on my cats--and sometimes my husband.
What I Write: I write poetry as a form of emotional release and prose as a way to share my view of the world--and imagination--with others. I'm currently in pursuit of publication for my first expected trilogy which centers around a clan of half-human vampires on an uncharted man-made island packed with action, adventure, and a little unconventional romance.

    Learning the ropes

Sunday, November 2, 2008, 02:43 PM EST [General]

I'm slowly getting the hang of this communities set up. I only hope that it stays geared toward writers. It's a sad day when beneficial communities get transformed into MySpace/Facebook and lose sight of their initial purpose. Personally, I'd prefer a community with 10 serious writers than one with 100 random people trying to find a girl/boyfriend online.

    Dear Salley,

I just joined the peer review group and saw the photographs from your tour of duty in Afghanistan and had to take a moment to say thank you to you and your husband for your service to the country. My oldest son is currently deployed in J-bad and works on the helicopters. He's with the 101st Airborne out of Ft Campbell.

I wish you success with your writing and best wishes.

Thank you for the compliment re: the picture of my grandkids. I must confess that I didn't take it and am not quite sure who did. My daughter-in-law sent it to me. She has a friend, ...
