    Relationship Status In a Relationship
    Occupation: Freelance Writer
    Interested In: Poetry, Fiction, Children's
About Me: I am new to writing as a profession and am finding this to be a lot scarier than I expected. On the up side, I've lived a lot in 40 years. I am the great-great granddaughter of Dr. Sam Mudd, I have lived all over the world, Orson Welles filmed "The Monkey's Paw" at our cottage in England when I was 5, and I was in the Pentagon on 9/11.
What I Write: I mostly write fiction and I used to write a lot of dating site profiles. Those didn't pay very well; but I did find my boyfriend of 2 years that way and he takes me out to dinner a lot. I will write for food.
Credits & Accomplishments: I recently wrote an article about my experiences on 9/11 for the "History News Network," I was a finalist in "Glimmer Train Magazine's" November 2007 short story contest, and I've had work published in "Antenna Arts Magazine" and a church newsletter.
Hobbies I make things out of disposable materials (tissue paper, toilet paper rolls, tin cans). I'm studying to be a tax professional for H&R Block to make some money, I'm hopefully going to survive working as a poll worker this Election Day, and I plan to visit a nudist colony soon. Again, I will write for food.
Music: My favorite band is the Modern Lovers with such great hits as "Hey There Little Insect" and "I'm a Little Dinosaur." My favorite music to write to is by Jean Luc Ponty or Kate Bush.
Favorite Movies: Meet the Robinsons; Me Myself I; Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!; Nikita (with Anne Parillaud)
Favorite Television Shows: The Office, The Starter Wife, That 70's Show, The Wombles, Dougal and the Magic Merry-Go-Round (the last two are from England)
Favorite Books & Authors: Watership Down, books about Lemony Snicket, Anna Karenina, The Brothers Karamazov, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Heroes: My grandfather Dr. Richard Mudd who worked his whole life to try to clear his grandfather's name. It didn't hit me until my family went to a Mudd hearing in DC a few years ago how hard my grandfather had worked. Being a member of my family was always a really neat thing; but before my grandfather came along and uplifted us all so much, the Mudd story was a scandalous part of our past that no one in our family ever discussed.
    Education: Graduate - Professional School
Schools: I started school in England, then school in Michigan, then Guam, then back to Michigan; college at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

    Starting a typing business

Monday, March 30, 2009, 12:12 PM EST [General]

I am starting a new typing business for anyone who is interested.  I type 100 words a minute and my rate is $15 an hour (which comes out to $15 for each 6,000 words).  I also proofread and spellcheck every project at no additional charge.  You can contact me here, at my email address ecrowe@crowesfeet.com, or by calling me at (513) 254-3199.  Also, if you see a way that I could improve my service and you offer a suggestion that I use, I will give you a $1 off your project so that I will do the same job at the rate of $14 an hour or 6,000 words.

I've been a secretary for 20 years for many different kinds of companies (for example, advertising, publishing, law firms, entertainment, construction, real estate, restaurant development, insurance, sales, banks, psychology clinics, even a candy factory).  I'm reliable, accurate, fast, and ALWAYS keep your work confidential.  (The only way anyone will ever get me to spill the beans is with a court warrant or if it seems absolutely necessary to protect you or someone else from you from harm.)

I also write and have published a few articles, am an associate editor for "Dark Discoveries Magazine," and enjoy working with writers.  I hope to hear from you!

Also, if you have a small business yourself including as a freelancer, I'd love to hear how your experience has been.

Ack! I'm running out of time and I haven't started yet!

Sunday, November 2, 2008, 05:02 PM EST [General]

I am a deranged person!  I quit my job at the end of July 2008 to write full-time thinking it would be a breeze since everyone in my life has told me I needed to write.  So now that I am versed at playing Myst and every game on Pogo, I came on here today for the first time thinking maybe if I found a group to write with, things would be different.  I would be motivated, take control of my life, get out of this non-writing rut that I'm in.  I have always wanted to do this 50,000 word thing, but had no idea what it was or where to go or the time to leave Myst to find out about it.  And now here it is, November 2nd and I'm already running out of time.  So I have about 5 seconds to find something to write about and I just saw 3,000 words are due by the end of today.  I just now figured out how to post here.  I'm glad that at least, if I am crazy, I have company!  I look forward to getting to know you over the next month!  -- Liz
