About Me:
I'm an author at heart but a teacher in the real world because I need a steady income to pay the bills. I teach high school Spanish and Speech, coach one-act and speech, advise the National Honor Society members, coach the flag corps, sell Mary Kay on the side and I'm a mom of two great kids. I've been married since 1990, and I live in a very small town which my labrador and I explore daily on our walks.
What I Write:
Well, I write a variety of things that never see the outside of my home. I have a novel that needs a rewrite, a variety of poems, and a few young adult short stories that I'd like to get published. I also write an occasional feature article for The Norfolk Daily News in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Credits & Accomplishments:
Not many, but I did win a local short story contest once and I came in second place in it the second time I entered it. Also, I entered a short story in Writer's Digest's writing competition last year, and I received an honorable mention for it.
Hobbies
Reading above all else, but I have many hobbies. I love to travel to Mexico and Spain to visit former exchange students we've hosted. I enjoy crossword puzzles, walking, swimming, cross-stitching, watching movies and attending my children's activities.
Music:
I love Juanes! I also really like John Mellencamp and the Country duo of Sugarland.
Favorite Movies:
The Shawshank Redemption, It's a Wonderful Life, Mrs. Doubtfire, Shrek, Dead Poet's Society, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Stand By Me, Fools Rush In and all the Indiana Jones and James Bond movies.
Favorite Television Shows:
M*A*S*H* is my favorite overall, but I'm a sucker for Survivor and The Amazing Race now. I also like reruns of Friends and George Lopez.
Favorite Books & Authors:
Favorite book: The Count of Monte Cristo. Favorite author: Charles Dickens. I read a lot of things, and I have a lot of books waiting at home to be read. I'm working my way through the Pulitzer Prize winners in fiction. Mostly, I like the Classics and books with substance.
Heroes:
No one really. Everyone is human and prone to baseness. I admire many people who I know, and I call them "friends."
Education:
Post Grad
Schools:
University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Wayne State College in Nebraska
Income From Writing:
