    Critique Group/Writing Partner?

Sunday, October 12, 2008, 03:36 PM EST [General]

I am looking to start a critique group/partnership.  I write YA fiction, and am in the process of beginning a new project.  I have an idea for the book, but would like to come up with a couple more, before I move on.

I was thinking of having a group that went from start to finish.  From brainstorming to a revised novel.   I am not set on how many pages per week/month, and am open to the structure.  If you are interested in either starting a group or just being partners let me know.

    Hi Hodge,

I'm a new writer and Just got here to WM. I'm specifically looking for a critique group. Are you building this group specifically around the genre of YA fiction, or welcome to crossing some genre borders here? The majority of the writing I'm doing is speculative fiction.

Hi Tanja. I'd be interested in joining such a group. Right now, I have mainly works in progress, so the brainstorming's not as big a deal for me-- but getting feedback as I draft does really help me. And I like the idea of working through the whole process-- I have 1 novel that's about halfway finished and a few I'm close to the start on, so any one of those projects would be a good candidate for this sort of thing.

I do get busy, I'll warn you (teaching writing is tough) but i do try to be as prompt as I can.

Let me know if you get anyone else interested.

I would be interested in a critique group, but most of my work is also speculative and not so much for young adults. I wouldn't mind leaving what I like to read behind and maybe that would be more fair to the work being read?

    Hi Tanja,

I haven't ever joined a critique group, but would be interested. Like some of the other comments you've received, I don't write YA; I've completed an adult fiction novel and am also starting a new project - suspense / adult romance I think. Let me know if you get this off the ground and if I'd be a potential candidate to participate. Maybe you'd be open to a partnership instead. Good luck with your writing!
