    Mangy pins

    I'm trying desperately to finish re-writing, and I came across the following sentence in my MS:  "She looked out the window as the dirt fields and mangy pins raced by."

    What the heck are mangy pins?  I can only work on this stuff late at night, so when I write, my brain is the consistency of oatmeal.  Either I'm barely operating at the conscious level, or I'm just so tired sometimes my hands just take over and complete nonsense gets typed in. 

    At this rate, India will complete a second lunar mission http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,442821,00.html

    before I finish.   I have to get back to work - I'm drooling all over the keyboard.

    OK, this one had me laughing out loud! Who hasn't had a similar experience? Are you keying or handwriting? -- 'cause I've often not been able to read my handwriting -- especially when it was done on a napkin, while walking the treadmill, etc.



    If you're keying it in, however, maybe you just missed a letter? Perhaps these were supposed to be mangy pines??

    I haven't seen any mangy pins lately. Don't they migrate only in the spring?



    Seriously though, it's hard to write in the evening after a day of job stresses. I only make progress on the week-ends.



    Hang in there, you'll finish one day.

    Oh my, have I had that experience - only I usually drop words or whole sentences (for some reason my subconscious still thinks everyone can read my mind). Don't worry about finishing your manuscript before India completes their lunar missions, I'd worry more about the US colonizing the moon first. Ha!

    Now... stand up, stretch, and remember - you are you own worst critic, so give yourself a break! :)
