I entered a story that dealt with a couple who were trying to piece their lives back together after a serial murderer killed their daughter so I wouldn't hesitate to enter something that has an edge to it. Part of the reason I suggest this contest is that I do believe having contest wins on a writer's resume helps, but also, it put me into contact with an editor who wanted to see a book of poetry. I'm not saying that happens every time, but you don't know who is seeing your work and what could happen. Maria Rachel Hooley |

I have the same problem with the word Friend. But that's what's being used. I also don't like "friend" and "text" being used as verbs, but what can I do? And what's up with the no adult content? |

I just read your response to my response. Thanks so much for your input. I was hoping you were heading towards increasing rudeness these days by people of all sorts, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. So I appreciate you taking the time to add to your original comment. I've been doing a lot of research on early 1900's. In my part of the country, a man could shoot someone for calling him names and go home to eat dinner with his family. Lord help him if he said anything about his wife or mother! Playing around with ideas on why civility has gone out the window. There's a story in there somewhere. Once again, thanks for your help. dmarie |

Ok, I'll play. I just walked out my door. Standing in my front yard in a neighborhood where the houses are from the 20's. What will I run into? dmarie |

You're welcome, Brother! And thanks for bringing that censorship thing to my attention. Is that a personal choice to censor yourself, or is it a site policy? Because if its a policy thing, I may have a problem...I should probably actually read the the Terms of Usage before I start posting stuff willy-nilly all over the site. ;) RBPierce |

You, Mr. End Game, are a dog, and need to read my previous post on avoiding the occasions of sin. And yes, she was hot. Stephen Pohl |

I spent a year in the Nam in 1968 as part of a Navy harbor defense group. At the time, I thought I was serving America and democracy and all that, but eventually came to belive we were used to further some some sort of distorted political ideology. I wonder about the guys in Iraq and Afghanistan and how they'll view their sacrifices twenty years from now. I.R. Griffith |

Okay, that's eerie. The posts did sound similar but I didn't even read yours until you made the comment. Is there something in the water?
